Go Electric

Tools & Appliances

The average Australian household releases 11,000 Kg of greenhouse gas emissions a year from the use of inefficient fossil fuels. So this is a great area to take action.

What is an Electrified Household?

An electrified household is one that has replaced all appliances and devices that were powered by fossil fuels such as gas, petrol or diesel with electric alternatives.  It also takes advantage of the abundance of sun in Far North Queensland with a rooftop solar system and backup battery to store the energy it has created.

What are the benefits of an Electrified Household?

By becoming an electrified household, you can have the following benefits:

Save thousands of dollars a year in power bills*

Zero carbon emissions

Self sufficiency with an off-grid system

*The average energy savings for a standard household is around $5248 per year with a fully electrified household.

Steps to become an Electrified Household

Reduce energy consumption

(see tips below)

Install a rooftop solar system with a backup battery in your home

Go to SOLAR ENGERY page

Some commonly used items you may consider switching to electric are:

  • Hot water system (you can even have a dedicated solar panel)
  • Stovetop (electric or induction)

Save Energy at Home

There are many small changes you can make at home (other than adding solar energy) to reduce your energy consumption which will also reduce your power bills:

  • Install roof or ceiling insulation
  • Install double-glazed windows
  • Use fans rather than air-conditioning where possible
  • Set air-conditioning to 24-26 degrees Celsius
  • Switch to LED light bulbs
  • Upgrade to appliances with a high star energy rating
  • Use cold water cycle on your washing machine and only do full loads
  • Air dry your washing
  • Use a pool cover and energy efficient pool pump
  • Turn appliances off at the wall

  • Turn lights off when not required
