Go Renewable

Making the switch to renewables is the first step on the path to net zero. It’s something that anyone can do, regardless of whether you own or rent your property. Invest today to reduce your power bills.

Electricity’s Carbon Footprint

66% of our regions carbon emissions comes from the burning of coal and gas to produce the electricity we use. To go zero on electricity related greenhouse gas emissions you have a few options.

What You Can Do

  Solar

Install your own rooftop solar system. While every household is different, a 6.5 kilowatt solar array with a 5 kilowatt inverter is considered a standard residential system that will typically pay for itself within five years.

PPA

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is when businesses buy energy from renewable projects, often at rates that are much lower than standard market rates. The long-term and transparent design means that businesses can better manage energy use and costs. Currently, PPA’s are only available to very large energy users. Luckily, SME’s can access renewable energy via Ergon’s Clean Energy Program.

Did You Know?

In 2021 around 20% of electricity used in Queensland was produced from renewable energy sources. This amount is being accelerated by the QLD government target to produce 50% of the state’s electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
